Why the cost of repair of LEDs TVs is so high?

I ordered a TV repair service. It is so costly. Do you have similar experience? Why does it cost a lot?

It is expensive because component-level service is not done by the TV manufacturer. The costly PCB will be replaced by a service technician even if the failure may be due to a single defective component in the PCB.

It will take technical expertise and special tools to troubleshoot and replace the SMD IC’s and components. As most of the servicing is done at the field(Customer locations) it is easier for the service technician to replace the PCB with a screwdriver (and soldering iron if needed).

The consumer will spend more on this deal but with less down-time. During the era of CRT TV’s, most of the servicing was done at the component level.

What Others Are Asking

Is there any problems if I change 0805 too 0402 surface mount or smaller?

In order to reduce the size of a PCB, I will probably have to use smaller SM components. I currently use mostly 0805 passives, and am thinking about going to 0402 or smaller. Apart from power dissipation considerations, any pitfalls I should be aware of when making the transition?

How do I determine the traces width when designing a PCB?

Our team are developing a portable medical device with a small size, so we need a small PCB. How do I determine the traces width when designing a PCB? Actually we want it as narrow as possible to fit the device, is it OK?

How can I solder an SMD component with a pad on the bottom?

I am getting a PCB manufactured for a project that I am working on. One of the parts, the A4950 motor driver, has a “pad” on the bottom, which is meant to be soldered to GND of the PCB for thermal dissipation. I was thinking about the prototyping, and I am unsure how I would go about (using a soldering iron), soldering the pad on the bottom.
