What are the multi-pin connectors for cameras/LCD’s on phones called?

I want to use cameras/LCD’s on phone as a security system. What is the multi-pin connectors for them on phones called? Can a female connector be bought to make these cameras work?

They are generally called FPC connectors, which is an acronym for flex to PCB connectors.

Such connectors are generally not rated for outside environments. So such re-purposing is OK for indoor uses, but unlikely to be reliable in outdoor applications.

Remark: The flexible part that inserts in the connector is not usually an available part in supermarkets. It’s a flexible PCB with low quality and cost.

  • So you’ll need to keep that piece of the interconnect.
  • Or, you could have them manufactured, but making them in low volumes and cost-effectiveness.
