The components used in fabricating the PCB can be segregated into 2 categories:
- Metallic Components/Metallic Fractions (MF)
- Non-Metallic Components/Non-Metallic Fractions (NMF)
Out of these two, segregating and recycling the NMF or the non metallic parts is quite tough. 70% of the PCB waste is made up of non metallic portions. They till now were land-filled or incinerated.
The MF component have an added economic incentive for recycling the PCB waste because they essentially contain valuable metals which can be reused for various other purposes. After being separated, recycled metals such as Antimony, Conduzir, Ferro, Aluminum and Copper are further processed to be segregated.
