Waarom zitten er tranen op de PCB-pads??

I received the PCB design file from supplier. There are some teardrops, which I have seldom seen. Why are there teardrops on the PCB design?

There are primarily two reasons to use teardrops:

  1. It avoids a pocket (where the trace meets the pad) that could collect acid from the PCB etching process which would later do bad things.
  2. It reduces mechanical & thermal stress resulting in less hairline cracks in the trace.

That being said, in professionally made PCB’s teardrops are rarely needed. It’s almost more of an aesthetic thing than a solution to a real problem. I’ve done many boards with and without teardrops and I have yet to notice a difference. In my opinion, they are more trouble than they are worth.

Wat anderen vragen

Is paste mask layer, both top and bottom layer, necessary for THT components?

I know the paste mask layer is also called the stencil layer. It’s only used for assembly. I want to know if the paste mask layer (both top and bottom layer) is necessary for through hole components. For SMD components I know the paste mask layer is required to solder the components. Is it necessary for through hole components?

Kan ik een printplaat maken zonder grondvlak??

Recently we are developing a portable device which should be very tiny and light. In terms of PCB design, I am thinking whether it is a good idea to exclude ground plane to minimize the product size.

What are possible solutions to PCB warpage problems?

My PCB manufacturer just informed me that he is facing PCB warpage issue in my simple, single sided, copper poured PCB. He says to avoid this issue he suggests to add a dummy copper patch by keeping 3mm copper clearance from all sides. Can somebody tell me what leads to this issue and what are possible solutions to this problem ?
