How do you deal with the counterfeit parts on the PCB?

We receive PCB samples from our supplier, which is really with a pretty price in the market. However, we find there are some counterfeit parts on it. Is it a big problem?
  • Low Safety

Due to uncertain quality levels, counterfeit elements may indirectly cause accidents, such as short circuit causing fire.

  • Performance Decline for the Long Run

If you use it for the long run, there will be an obvious trend of performance decline. The product may fail to work or not have the best effect as expected.

How to Do: Balance Cost and Quality

  1. If you have limited budget and feel acceptable about the two points above, you have to sell it directly to the retail customer. Don’t forget to offer satisfied after-sales services to the customer and state your after-services in detail before your retail customer buy it. And this can ensure good buying experience of customers, avoiding leaving bad impression in market.
  2. If you have enough budget, you can buy authorised components to place them.

How to handle feedline of bluetooth PCB connected to a 2.4GHz chip antenna?

I’m making a 4 layer PCB prototype that uses a bluetooth mcu connected to a 2.4GHz chip antenna. I’m thinking about what to do with the feedline, whether it should be buried on one of the middle layers, or left on the top layer. To get a 50 ohm line, should I choose top layer with 13-mil width or buried miccrostrip with 7-mild width?
