What board can be used as foundation for building a power electronic converter?

The power electronic converter is for high power application. I am going to design it for a new project. Any useful advice?
  • You need to take power dissipation into consideration.
  • You must also calculate the current rating through the circuit and design the PCB track width accordingly.
  • The quality of the PCB material should also be considered. Low-quality PCBs would get damaged easily due to the heavy current carried by the track.
  • Apart from these things you should also take care of all safety features so that the circuit does not get shorted at any point if time during Power On time.

I guess Glass Epoxy PCBs give a better result than copper-clad PCBs.

CEM3 or FR4 PCB, which is the lightest material?

There is nothing about weight in the substrate datasheets I found.
